#4 *Voice Recognition* killer app in waiting.

Microsoft has made few public displays of voice recognition, but this
doesn't mean they aren't aware of the future of voice related products.
On the contrary, they are waiting for the advancement of CPU technology so
that a product that makes few mistakes can be brought out. 95% correct
speech recognition is great but it still leaves lots of room for
improvement before it'll replace the keyboard.

Intel ??? I don't know what to make of Intel's lack of real hands on
stance. Why isn't Intel front and center along with IBM in the voice
recognition field? It's beyond me. There's not too many apps that need
giga power and there won't be in the near future either. Soft DVD ?
Don't think so.

Edge Microsoft..."continuous "speech recognition came out in 1997. Look for
more evolutionary steps every year from now on . Is Microsoft ready to put
some voice recognition capability into WIN98? What about O/S2 WARP ver4?
and PowerMacs text to voice? Things are wide open... Oh well maybe this
is just a toy for years to come. I"m curious as to what others think
Microsoft and Intel are doing strategically as far as voice recognition
goes. Is voice recognition a non-issue in driving future demand for pcs?
