Thanks. Apparently, one of the updates was causing the delay. I did 43 updates in small batches of 3 or 4, and the last few went fairy fast. I am now good and somewhat relieved until the next MS hassle. I don't mind a good challenge or problem to solve, but computers often remain unpredictable.

One of the updates was really annoying. When selected a pop up screen came on offering to make IE my default browser, with no other choice. I use Firefox and Chrome, but had to select IE and then after the download went into FF to remake it my default browser.
