Company Press Release

New Saville senior vice president of corporate development, Lawrence
Barker, will help shape company's strategic direction. Barker brings almost 20 years of telecom experience to Saville

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 1998-- Saville Systems
(NASDAQ:SAVLY - news) today announced expansion of its senior management team by adding 20-year telecom veteran Lawrence Barker as its senior vice president of corporate development. Barker's experience in wireless customer care and billing at companies such as Computer Sciences Corporation [NYSE:CSC - news], Teradyne and AT&T, will enable him to help develop and implement Saville's corporate development direction as it continues to rapidly grow in the
telecom customer care and billing market.

Barker joined Saville from Stanford Associates, Inc., a strategic
management and consulting services provider to emerging telecommunications companies, where he was the company's president. During his tenure at Stanford, Barker became chairman of the board for Clear Communications, Lincolnshire, Ill., which provides management integration tools for carrier networks. He also sits on the board of Coherent Research, Inc., Syracuse, NY, which provides operational support software to both power utilities and communications providers.

''Over the past year we have expanded and strengthened our global
management team by adding key executives who will help lead our
corporate and technology direction around the world,'' said Jack Boyle, president and CEO of Saville Systems. ''Larry's strong telecommunications background will be instrumental to Saville's
growth and expansion in the global telecommunications billing and
customer care industry. He will help us keep pace with our rapid growth in established and emerging markets.''

Barker has worked extensively in the worldwide telecommunications
market, including establishing offices in the Far East and Mexico when
he was president and CEO of Computer Sciences Corporation's Intellicom division, Bethesda, Md. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of the company's billing and customer care practice, working with telecom providers in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. He also helped develop and implement the company's global strategy by establishing partnerships with Ericsson, HP, ICL and world-leading consultancy Cap Gemini.

Prior to Computer Sciences, Barker was area sales manager for Regional
Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) at Teradyne Corporation's telecommunications division. Teradyne provided RBOCs with automated test response and work force dispatch systems. Barker also held several sales positions at Sykes Datatronics, Rochester, NY, AT&T, Des Moines, Iowa, and IBM, Chicago, Ill.

Barker earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from
Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and lives in McLean, Va.
