I remember years ago seeing a display of "great black kings", put up in a college for black history month. In included Hanibal (who was of Phonecian decent, and wasn't a king) and Cleopatra (who might be called a queen not a king, and who was part of a Greek dynasty ruling Egypt, not sub-Saharan Africa. )
