In an excerpt from a Rolling Stone interview, Bruce Springsteen calls the Trump campaign a "tragedy for our democracy" and warns that "the republic is under siege by a moron." "When you start talking about elections being rigged, you're pushing people beyond democratic governance," Springsteen says. "And it 's a very, very dangerous thing to do." Springsteen says there has been a failure to address how "deindustrialization and globalization" in the US has hurt people—but all Trump is offering is "simple answers to very complex problems." In a separate interview with a Scandinavian talk show, Springsteen calls Trump's campaign a "great embarrassment" for the US, though he says he understands how some could find him "compelling," the Guardian reports. "We have certain problems in the United States—tremendous inequality of wealth distribution," he says. "That makes for ripe ground for demagoguery." Springsteen hasn't appeared at any Clinton events but in the Rolling Stoneinterview, he denies any a lack of enthusiasm. "I think she would be a very, very good president," he says. (Ted Cruz has decided that he's going to vote for Trump after all.)
