Runner, <When the panelist stated that Europe was 80% Y-2000 ready I was in disbelief. >Me too!! Almost sounds like the same lady analyst that Josef Svejk told us about last month: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Humbly report, lessons from a half day spent with a highly regarded female analyst, guru, best selling autor, TV-personality, financial advisor, while taping her new investment advice video, expected to be a major hit: - Knows almost nothing about y2k. - Totally unconcerned, waiting for the silver bullet, convinced it is on the way - shortly. - Totaly unwilling to listen to any other viewpoint. - Laughs off embedded systems problems as "insignifficant". - Laughs off any suggestion of possible y2k induced market crisis as "hype", calls - Yardeni a "fool", when informed of his predictions. - Would never invest in "negativity", strongly advises against it. - Influences millions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <I remember a post a month ago where IBM in Europe said they could not fix their Euro currency and their Y-2000 problems in time, so they were suspending their Euro conversions for the moment. > I couldn't recall the above, but for anyone interested in Euro, here are a few posts:WHITE HOUSE IS WARNED OF EMU TIMEBOMB Message 2851645 WSJ Interactive Y2K Discussion thread The situation is complicated by the overlap with the introduction of the Euro. Although these are very different issues, both imply massive changes to IT assets within the enterprise. Year 2000 is an IT problem with impact on the business, while the Euro is a business issue with IT impact. For many organisations, there are clear potential synergies between some phases of the two projects. However, running them together to realise economies must be handled very carefully to avoid increasing risks. Message 2840096 Survey Highlights: The preliminary results indicate a trend that shows Europe's IT systems may be as ill prepared for the introduction of the euro as they are for the year 2000 . The survey also shows a lack of awareness of the size, complexity and business impact of the problem. Message 2820303 Cheryl
