"Maybe you're planting citrus trees since their growing zone must be shifting north from the San Joaquin valley?"
Still too cold in the winter.

"What exactly new are you planting to take advantage of the longer growing zone where you are?"
How can I put this delicately? Plans are to take advantage of state and county law change, not climate change. I know a chardonnay grower who just picked 85 tons of grapes, $1200/ton, from 20 acres, I believe. I'm told that a year from now, there will 900 lbs of medical marijuana being harvested right over yonder, at roughly the same price per pound, from 1/4 acre.

Mendocino County is developing a cannabis cultivation ordinance. In August 2016, the Board of Supervisors directed staff to move forwarded with an environmental review of the draft cultivation and zoning ordinance.
