Jack,

I have heard that as much as 1/3 of health care costs go to buy malpractice insurance. I hate to think every time I take a pill some laywer get's his 1/3.

A few years back I bought a horse that turned out to be mean even though he was represented as a tame horse. I wound up with some broken bones in my wrist. I went to a lawyer about getting my money back on the horse and my deductable paid as here in Illinois the law is quite specific about disclosure when selling horses. The lawyer wasn't interested in a small potatoes thing over a horse but he said the cast was worth $10,000 to me if I'd sue the Dr. Now, the cast was fine but any cast and he would sue and settle for enough for me to clear $10,000. This guy had no problem sueing the Dr. over a job done right.

I took the high moral ground and declined. Today I drive an old jeep and that slimey ambulance chaser has a Rolls and a Ferrari. So much for morals. I guess anyone in the field of medicine should take the sargeants advice and cover their ass.
