half of Americans of the liberal persuasion were very similar to most Canadians I would say that's salient observation.. just know we have our wackos too :)) We are far from perfect.. Yes the Jews are a strong force in Montreal.. still much stronger than in Toronto I find.. and they easily adapted to French.. In my old neighbouroods of Outremont and Par Ex in Montreal there was always a strong Jewish contingent.. Being part Chinese.. they were just another slightly outside group like us.. but more numerous... Yes my French is still pretty good even after 30 years in Toronto.. I sent my kids to French school and most of my family is still in Montreal.. My Cantonese is failed though :0( although I still have some and use some Mandarin too
