FIRST SIGN OF FAILURE - From Yahoo Message Board

It's happening NOW!!

Just experienced what I believe to be a first sign of system failure due to the Y2K bug. I was trying to view my orders for the day thru my broker, Discover Brokerage (Lombard), and it said I didn't have any open orders for the day. Then I noticed the date field, it was looking for orders between Dec 4 1997 and Jan 2 1900!! I almost s**t my pants!! I tried to adjust the field but the year 1998 is not there. Leaving me to believe for some reason the bug made the system think it is 1900.

I could not believe my eyes! I could not view my orders I just made an hour ago!! Can you imagine the law suits and bad publicity it can trigger. What a melt down. This is no joke, and like many people I have had my doubts about this so-called problem. After all, God is real but you just can't be too certain until you meet him in person! Well today I meet the maker.

Post this where ever you can! This should put the fear of god in man.

Reminds me of Smith Barney's fiasco last year around this time when they tested their Y2K work!

"If your card has a couple of zeros in the wrong place, don't leave home without some greenbacks."

So says a story in today's Washington Post:
