Dave, I just wanted to let you know I can't join in on the analysis since QP won't update my directories for the 29 or 31rst of Dec! Messed w. it all day yesterday, and spent the morning on the phone w/ tech support to no avail. They told me I have to wait and see what happens w. todays data, and to call back on Monday. Terrible!

But anyway, I'm following along, learning, and just wishing I could join in[g].

Hello Dave,

Thanks for the nice answer. Will give some more thought to the database problem in the next weeks. I should probably trading to use the JAnunary effect but i have the feeling it's better for me to get my trading tools sharp. The right database will be one of them. I traded mostly stocks between $5-20 the last year and should have stopped doing so in September but continued and lost a lot of my gains for 1997. I never did much paper trading and testing and when things were really getting rough i felt it was insane to continue what i did and now really try to establish a systematic approach (no system, just being disciplined and systematic). If that takes another few month that's OK because it will make me better prepared for adverse situations.
I just wanted to sum things up: if i understand it right you like to go Dahl in the right direction regardless of it's absolute value! I know Richard always said never trade long when Dahl is <0 but it seems that you're saying otherwise. Maybe i just don't understand right.
And yes one question remained uncovered: Parabolic SAR in Metastock 6.5 and Optimized SAR in GET. Is there a difference or can i use the Metastock indicator for the purpose you use it? If you don't have the 6.5 version maybe someone who has GEt and 6.5 can make a comment if these indicators are the same.
And again THANK YOU for being here for us. I can tell that there is again a great focus of SYSTEMATIC learning when you're around. OF course we beginners learn from other people too but it's more little peices of information here and there. That's all very valuable but you serve it all in one nice big dish including some human warmth to go with it like a nice warming glass of red wine!!
