Morning Joe Roasts Obama Over Syria: This Will Haunt His Legacy For 100 Years
3 Washington Free Beacon by Jack Heretik

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough eviscerated President Obama on Wednesday over his failures in Syria, saying it would haunt his legacy for a century.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski read an excerpt from Sen. John McCain’s (R., Ariz.) editorial in the Wall Street Journal, where McCain strongly argues that the United States cannot wait any longer to act in Syria and that the continuing war in Syria poses a threat to the Middle East and the world.

Scarborough then praised McCain as having been the first to argue that the United States needed to do more in the past in Syria to prevent the situation there from deteriorating to its current state.

“He’s been dead on in Syria from the very beginning,” Scarborough said. “He’s been warning of the increased costs from the very beginning. He said you can go in now and take care of it now or it’s going to get more difficult later.”

Then Scarborough turned his aim to the Obama administration.

“The problem is the choices were not so difficult at a given time but … we have a White House and we have a world that keeps allowing the slaughter to continue day in and day out and it gets more difficult by the day,” Scarborough said. “So when people come on here and whine about how tough it is, well, they’ve built their own prison and it’s the Syrian people who are dying and being starved to death right now … It is Vladimir Putin who is helping starve the children day by day, hour by hour in Syria while we do absolutely nothing.”

“If Barack Obama thinks that he can have a wing in his presidential library that talks about how he is a peace maker and he did the exact opposite of Bush and Cheney, he is delusional,” Scarborough said. “This, I won’t say holocaust, but whatever you want to call it, this crime against humanity is going to follow his legacy for a hundred years. He will never escape it.”

Co-host Willie Geist then raised the question of what the point is of international organizations, such as the United Nations, that are supposed to step in and prevent these crises when they haven’t done anything yet. The show’s panel agreed with Geist’s point.

Scarborough laid out a final, scathing critique of Obama’s lack of action.

“This has been a human tragedy of biblical scale unfolding before our eyes in horrific slow motion for five years. Now Russia is in the Middle East for the first time since the early 1970s and they are starving children to death, with their bombardment, they are bombing children, they are killing children,” Scarborough said. “It is barbaric what they are doing every day and the White House and the West does nothing. Does the president really think that he’s going to be able to blame George W. Bush for what’s going on in Syria? For five years? Because if so, he’s delusional about that too.”

“History will be so brutal to him for everything he has failed to do in Syria,” Scarborough added.
