First off, the Internet offers you the oppurtunity to learn; use search engines to pursue broadening your horizons. That not to be smart-ass, just a suggestion. Relying on all the chat room nonsense and garbage; both sides, is a disservice to yourself. As it been said; "Educate your mind and your ass will follow!" Shell, Chevron and Exxon have some interesting sites that explain alot of questions that you may have. Below is about gravity:exxon.com This is just a nice primer:chevron.com Shell got a site that has a glossary of terms. Sorry, don't have the URL (not going back to get it). I did this in about 1/2 hour. There is even more available if you spend the time. This post is something I've been saying all along. Not about water, but the rest. In short 41deg oil at 1%sulphur is nice stuff. Light and fairly sweet. In other words it flow easily and processes easier. Remember there has to be a force to get that oil to the surface, whether it's gas, water or sucked. You can easily have water there as well as oil and gas. I've seen wells produce near equal amounts of water and oil. It's not that unlikely However, a blowout, as the person points out takes on all kinds of properties, casues and effects. It, in of and of itself, isn't indicative of much. Becasue there is a seepage, doesn't mean much either, as far as to what quanity is residing below. Sorry to tell you this but movies like Giant and others paint a bad picture of reality. Usually and now a days, blowouts are results of high pressure gas that wasn't expected, human error, poor blowout preventors, etc. You could easily have a shallow zone that was missed when this well was P&A that is seeping due to the original drilling. In short, just too many variables. The coast of California has had more damage done to it by natural seepage than by anything the industry has done to it. I think it was Arco that want to build this pyramids to capture that natural seepage, in an attempt to placate the environmentalist. It's not, nor never a question of what; it's in what quanity, quality and at what flow rate . That's only done by drilling the well; not talk or wishful thinking; not by siesmic surveying or gepphysical study. Drilling is the final arbiter. Happy New Years and happy reading.
