Samsung, and other Korean conglomerates, are all over Vietnam. And if you do business in Vietnam, the communist party is your partner, they will be getting a cut of everything. Part of what the party does is keep labor cost very low for these companies.....I would definitely take the claims social security, health insurance, and vacation time with a grain of salt....but maybe they are truly coming into the modern world.

But I am sure there are many Vietnamese making big money supplying all the people that are employed by the factories. I have met some entrepreneurial people there that have done very well for themselves working around the periphery.

The Korean companies get away with murder when it comes to disposing of dangerous materials, and worker safety. They say that's the price of having the jobs.

Vietnam is booming, it is amazing to see the changes every time we go back...it's been three years now since we've been there. Can't wait to get back.

Our all star project manager (not Hung) had a stroke three days ago, Hung and I have been trying to find a way to get him someplace where he can get some decent medical care..... young guy 35-40. We love the guy, hope he makes a miracle come back...
