Alas, she was not forthcoming, and biotech stocks were forced to endure another dysfunctional week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -23.17% YTD (vs. down -17.29% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -21.40% YTD (vs. down -16.06% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -15.37% YTD (vs. down -8.60% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 4.13% YTD (vs. up 5.69% YTD a week ago). Both DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 30.92% YTD, and JBOG’s portfolio, up 12.54% YTD, had tough weeks but still held on to first and second place. STEVEL’s portfolio, up 6.75% YTD, moved to third place. At Friday’s close, just 6 of the 58 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 27 portfolios beating the NBI and 20 beating the SPSIBI. The 223 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -15.94% and a median YTD loss of -26.14%, with only 55 of the 223 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week, ranked by % Gained and % Lost. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: 1) Both ROKA & PTX did 1-10 reverse splits. 2) TPIVD symbol changed back to TPIV. (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.) Have a relaxing weekend biotechies!
