Geoff, as a big LOR and GSTRF fan, I appreciate all your hard work. As a U of M 1989 graduate, I share your feelings. What a great way to begin the new year. You may find this funny. Back in 1990, I made a bet with a friend of mine that if we ever won the national championship in football, I would get a M tatoo. I can't believe that I have to do this, but my word is all I have.

Go Blue,
Dam

Total cost through exercising options is Option price + commission + strike price + service charge. I need to find out what the service charge is with my broker.

I find deep in the money options are useful if the intent is to exercise since there is less time premium. Another reason for using deep in the money options are if you "just know" that a stock will go up a few points but not much more. This is true for Feb LOR when maybe 24 - 26 are reasonable guesses for the stock price. The Aprils should have two launches behind them so maybe 27 - 28 would be a good price for the stock in April so the April 22.5s could be a good play. The option expiration times are not usually tied to business events which makes for interesting games to be played with launch dates and earnings reports.

I intend to be at the Cape for the launch. I'll try to get my own video and telephoto camera shots and scan them into a computer file for you.

Geoff, I am new to this thread, having just discovered the potential
of Loral recently. I hate to take up thread space with inanities,
but I simply feel compelled to thank you and comment on the generally excellent content on this thread. Despite the excitement one may easily feel about Loral this thread is generally free of the BS comments like "GO LOR" or other such BS. Sir, I thank you in particular and all of you in general.
Now: to my question. I have read with interest the varying
launch rate succeses of the launch vehicles. Is it only politics or availability or WHAT that would lead Loral to choose a Zenit for example with only an 88% success rate as oppossed to a Delta with a 98%? That's puzzled me for a few days now. For the record, if I volunteer anything else on this board, I am long a thousand shres each of Loral, Airtouch, Worldcom. Thanks again, Jim Black

This evening's Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser featured the forecasts of last year's top rated analysts. Julius Westheimer, one of the panelists, mentioned LOR as a buy. He's been too pessimistic in the past on the overall market but has an excellent record picking individual stocks...every little bit helps.
