It definitely makes a lot of sense, when you have a candidate who has a history of treating women abusively, and has a charge of under-age sex/rape hanging over his head, to constantly attack your opponent as a rapist. Then you can say "Well, I'm no worse than him". But it seems that the electorate doesn't see the symmetry, since Bill Clinton is the ex-president, and Trump is the would-be president. Nobody is saying that Hillary Clinton has committed rape, and the more this issue is kept in the spotlight the better she does.
