Yes, IBM uses the HDs they manufacture internally and also sell them to other OEMs and retail. I don't know the percentages.

IMHO this is because IBM is eating their lunch. Technology as a sector has one of the highest long term growth rates, yet the relative strength of the sector is about 41 per IBD. Some are avoiding tech because of volatility. IBM is among the least volatile techs. It is hard to see much downside left, especially for IBM. JMHO. Scott
