David~No experience with that combination item, but sounds like a nice solution. But I can vouch that Brother puts out durable machinery.

I bought a regular Brother typewriter in 1985 for $175 more than you're paying for this model! I haul it out about every two years when I have to type up something really NICE. Despite the interval, all of the garbage that was saved way back to '85 is STILL in the memory, even tho it's only about 212k worth max.!

Because I primarily use a Mac the availability of that type of machine is non-existant for me. I have seen both that printer and an H-P version. A friend bought the H-P version at Office Max for about the same price and has been very satisfied. He bought it in late Novemeber.

I considered the same thing. BUT if one area has a problem everything is out if you have to service it. So I went with a visioneer scanner and color printer (less clutter too). Unless you need a dedicated fax...this works.FWIW
And yes Brother is a good name...you can always check out the ratings.
