Trump Supporters Talking About Actual Revolt
Taegan Goddard's Political Wire
by Taegan Goddard

Boston Globe: “At a time when trust in government is at a low point, Trump is actively stoking fears that a core tenet of American democracy is also in peril: that you can trust what happens at the ballot box.”

“His supporters here said they plan to go to their local precincts to look for illegal immigrants who may attempt to vote. They are worried that Democrats will load up buses of minorities and take them to vote several times in different areas of the city. They’ve heard rumors that boxes of Clinton votes are already waiting somewhere.”

“And if Trump doesn’t win, some are even openly talking about violent rebellion and assassination, as fantastical and unhinged as that may seem.”

For me, that woman wearing the shirt (Mr. Trump can grab my...) epitomizes this election. That picture, if true (and that's another problem with this election- truth seems not to matter anymore) shows us a woman who just doesn't get it. Firstly, she's giving permission to Mr. Trump to grab her. Thus any grabbing of her, by Trump, would not be assault. The other women at issue did NOT give consent. That's the point. So wearing a T-shirt giving consent really doesn't make much of a point, except to show that 1. you don't understand the issues, 2. you think sexual assault is a joke and 3. you have very, very bad taste.

But this election, at least on the republican side, has been about people who don't understand the issues, and think many things are a "joke" (when they don't really understand the implications of those jokes- a la Trump- who thinks you can make fun of the handicapped, women, people's looks, ancestry, race, sexual assault and a whole host of other things). Anger has made the right ridiculous. Never have I seen a candidate so gross, so stupid, so inexhaustibly ignorant- and yet the right embraces this creature. That speaks to a complete lack of quality control on the right. This man is a boor, a user of women. He doesn't respect anyone- turns on people in an instant, when it's useful to him to do so. He can't speak. He doesn't know anything about anything. He's a clown. Trump is the triumph of anger and stupidity united in an unholy marriage. It's a nightmare this man is running. I can only imagine what the same politicians of the right are thinking. For them, this must be a double nightmare. First, like me, I'm sure they are amazed this horror of a man got so close. But for them, this is THEIR party that's done this, and their people, or at least some of them, who voted for this monstrosity. It must be like waking up one day and finding out your spouse is a child abuser. How could you not have noticed? How could you have stayed with them so long? Well sane republicans (all 10 of you...), you're going to have to work that one out for yourselves.
