I graduated from Richmond union high school in 1959.

We could not have any night football games. Too many fights. Gangs everywhere.

The shocker's were after me for a year for breaking up with the gang leader's sister. They were a top gang. I finally met up with them, but they let me go? I later met that guy in college and he apologized.

But I got myself out of there. I was not going to grow up ignorant and would work the grave yard shift at hamburger stands like on 13th street at Hambricks giant burgers and then go straight to class.

Looking back I cannot believe I never got shot-lol.

I also worked at the Dandy Diner on Cutting by Easter Hill. I had to lock myself in at night when serving people-lol.

They finally had to shut that one down-lol.

I never got gang banged. All my fights were one on one.

But the African Americans also knew I was a friend and at times protected me.

The Bank of Richmond used to send an armed guard to walk their female employees to their cars at the end of the shift. And this was in their own parking lot while it was still daylight. Richmond sucks big time~
