EWM is just a basket of stocks (trading on the AMEX) that follows one of the Malay indices. I have the prospectus at home. Apparently an owner with enough shares can liquidate actual portions of it -- hence it trades close to par.

Thanks for your input. Hope Ringiit doesn't go that low, but I knew there was a risk that I was getting in too soon.

Stitch,

EWM is the malyasian web traded on the American stock exchange. WEBS are a basket of major representative stocks of a country. WEBS track a county's major market indices. I am also long EWM with an average cost of five dollars. EWM should track KLSE in dollar terms. It was trading around 16 dollars in Feb 1997.

I am also intrigued by your suggestion of Sime Darby and would appreciate any information about its future prospects. Sime Darby is traded on the OTC bulletin board in USA under the symbol SIDBY. Trading here is very thin and the bid is 90 cents and ask one dollar.

Thank you for first hand views on SEA.

Good investing and happy new year.

Jyoti
