That is such a simplistic view of history. Of course they had slaves. Our founding fathers owned slaves. Slavery was legal in the United States until 1865.

What do you have to say about our country that allowed slaves only 150 years ago.

The ancient Greeks lived 3,000 years ago. Are you able to see the difference? The ancient Greeks were the first major civilization in the history of mankind to invent a viable alphabet which allowed written language. Written language allowed knowledge to be transferred accurately from generation to generation.

10% of the people in Athens were literate. And these books of knowledge, stimulated discussions between people.

Plato and Socrates and Aristotle discussed slavery. But 2500 years ago, we were just starting to discuss things like ethics and democracy and sophisticated intellectual ideas. It's a bit of a stretch to expect them to understand how bad slavery was when our own founding fathers could not figure that out.

Did that ever occur to you?

Your view of this election and Trump and Hillary is a simplistic is your view of the ancient Greeks.

PS Socrates committed suicide because of the social contract.

As far as Socrates is concerned he commited suicide.

All the rich Swedes I know operate in North America where they know their wealth won't be stripped by confiscatory taxes.

Perhaps you and Elizabeth Warren can set-up a new slave-class comprised of the richest citizens who will be forced to produce goods and services for you.
