Thanks for all the responses concerning monitors. The responses are what make this a great forum! I haven't made a decision yet, i still want to go "kick the tires" a little. Not being able to test drive a computer/monitor is definitely a "draw back" IMO.

Night Writer,
Try shading your monitor at work so that the fluorescent light doesn't fall on it. This may help your eyestrain. I've seen monitor shades and non-glare screens sold in third-party catalogs.
