ken, my last post on amd when I exited it at 36 was amd was a 1998 stk.
and you know I sold my amd at 36.125.
amd and cyrx will thrive in 1998.
amd's yeild problems are long gone by 1q98 report.
the bad thing is amd and cyrx caused intel to fall back which shouldn't have happened.intel is also a 1998 stk.
the scoop on amd yeilds probelms are getting better is pretty good.
I think they went about 300k k'6 then 1 mm k6's, this qtr will be 1.8mm k6's.
that trend will put us at 2.5 to 3mm k6's in 1q98.
the prob. with amd hasn't been selling them.
they sell every one they make. but, the austin unit is poor at starting up new problem. In fact except for dell and a few others austin is poor at any manufacturing.
the sneaky thing is cpq didn't advertise their k6 pc they had on market maybe 8 weeks ago. their was the agreement announcement...
then nothing else was announced.
I wish I made as much money on other picks as I made on amd.
it was a great covered call and naked put stk. bec. it kept going up and I would sell calls then buy them back when amd fall back.
If I were you.
I would sell all my amd now and just buy calls. this way you exposure is limited but you profit if it goes up.
just think about this stk. can announce disaster squared and gap open upwards.
it's done it several times and it's weird<ggg>
Several times when I owned it they would announce disaster after market close
i have to put up with the jabs from SI posters all nite...then it would gap open up on massive volume the next day<ggg>
