It could not have come together better for the Democrats. You know I'd hoped Trump would be the candidate from the start. But us democrats don't get to vote in the GOP primaries. Trump was able to steal all of the media attention with his outrageousness and simplistic far right rhetoric. Trump never offered solutions, never took substantial positions, he only voiced the anger and conspiracy theories of the far right. Odds are, Trump will be as relevant half term governor Sarah Palin soon.

There is a problem in the party base though, that you seem to gloss over. Blaming the GOP problem of having selected Trump on the bizarre theory that he was a democratic plant is as alternate a conspiratorial reality as any that Trump himself or the alt right spins.

Trump was always a darling of the Breitbart, Drudge, Hannity and others.
