Read the ORBI thread. "No news" is the fact that 6 of 8 ORBCOMM satellites launched recently from a single lift-vehicle are functioning from orbit, 1 is low-power, and 1 is "missing". They suspect a singular cause for 2 satellites not performing properly. ORBCOMM provides low-cost, low data-rate communication worldwide, while GPS supplies position. Magellan, a subsidiary of Orbital, provides handsets with postion location and communications services integrated. A novel product for remote areas with no infrastructure.
