Of course it is. So is murder and sex slaves and sweatshops and gang violence and I can list stuff all day long.

But those are problems of the human condition that every society on earth has to deal with. And every society on earth has departments that deal with them. Those are micro problems.

As far as picking a president goes I think most of us try and look at the macro problems. The danger of nuclear war, laws regarding our norms and mores, worldwide pollution, global warming, national economic system, tax system and on and on.

You really want to have discussions about every single crime in America? Hundreds of people in this country are killed every week in gang violence. If you conflate the micro problems with the macro problems you are just going to end up in a quagmire.

For social planning, what is important is to elect the type of people that will design and implement intelligent social systems to deal with those problems and people to administer them.
