David, I do not know the answer to your question in any definitive sense. However, consider the evidence from the Iomega board on Motley Fool. I understand the SEC got involved in a serious investigation of "undue influence", first by the longs as they rocketed the stock up, and then by the shorts for the reverse ride. So one possible response to your inquiry is, "Yes, you can influence the stock of even larger companies (like Iomega)" although arguably IOM is not a TLAB on many counts.
But, your question got me to thinking and I think your point is a good one. Obviously the Internet is being used to hype the living bejeesus out of the very small cap stocks and will keep the SEC's attention at full throttle for years to come. But could it happen to TLAB? Again, don't know but doubt it. And it certainly wouldn't happen on any SI thread that I follow as 'short flamers' are exposed in seconds and rabid longs held to the rule of reason. So thank you. Guess we'll just let our friend have his fun (although I probably won't be able to resist tossing a pie in his face from time to time). Regards, Mike Doyle
