Softbank To List On TSE, Merge More US Subsidiaries 01/02/98

------------------------------------------------------------------------

TOKYO, JAPAN, 1998 JAN 2 (NB) -- By Martyn Williams, Newsbytes. Softbank Corporation [TOKYO:9984] will be listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange from January 16, according to the exchange. The company, whose subsidiaries include Ziff Davis Publishing and the Comdex trade shows, currently trades on the over-the-counter market.

The first section listing will take place on January 16, said the exchange.

Softbank also announced plans, on December 26, to merge two of its American subsidiaries -- Softbank Holdings Inc. and Softbank America Inc. -- on December 31. The merger follows a recent shake-up in some of the company's other units in the United States. In November it merged Ziff Davis Inc. and Softbank Comdex Inc.

The restructuring in the United States follows stock troubles in Japan, where founder and chief executive officer Masayoshi Son has seen the company's stock price fall from a 1997 high of 8,450 yen to less than 1,600 yen. Investors and analysts had questioned the company's rapid overseas expansion.

Softbank Holdings is a holding company through which Softbank owns partial or whole stakes in Ziff Davis, Kingston Technologies, Geocities, Yahoo!, Concentric Network, Engage Games Online, OnLive!, Decisive Technology Corporation, CyberCash, Unitech Telecom, Firefly Network, I/Pro, Interactive Marketing Inc., and USWeb.
