First of all, every politician who is at all reflective and intelligent will acknowledge that they require public and private positions on some issues at some times. Her example of Lincoln is apt. Just as a matter of fact, Douglass accused Lincoln of just that in the 1858 Senate race. Actually, it was even worse--he accused Lincoln of saying one thing one group of people and another thing to another group and thinking a third thing. It is necessary to do that because it is a complex world and what you might want to do if it wasn't so complex or if socio-economic conditions were different is impossible to do confronted with reality. And good politicians recognize the difference between what is possible and what they might like to do if the world was different.

And that leads nicely into the second point. Here is what the document you pointed to said she said about open borders:

*Hillary Clinton Said Her Dream Is A Hemispheric Common Market, With Open Trade And Open Markets. *“My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere.” [05162013 Remarks to Banco Itau.doc, p. 28]

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with that. She says "some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it...." I could see why certain people who have vested economic interests in fossil fuels or who doesn't think "green and sustainable energy" is a worthy goal might get upset about it, but no one else who reads the entire quote will. Every libertarian--which I thought you were--would surely like it.

Once again--she DOES NOT SAY THAT SHE WOULD PUSH FOR THAT GOAL ANY TIME SOON. She doesn't say, Oh we should push for this to happen or this will become a reality if I am elected president.

p.s. If you want to reply, you can do it through PM. Although you will have to take me off of "Ignore" to do it.
