After saying he would "neither defend nor criticize what Comey has decided to communicate about the investigation" Earnest told reporters at a White House press briefing "that the President believes Comey is a man of integrity and principle and good character." "The President doesn’t believe Director Comey is intentionally trying to influence the outcome of an election," Earnest added. "He's in a tough spot."
