Raph Acampora of Prudential Securities said that he expected to see a bear market unfold in the second half of 1998, and gave his top picks for 1998 all on the short side: Nike Philips Tidewater Thiokol Barnes Group If he thinks Tidewater's going over a waterfall in the second half, he probably thinks the entire oil-services sector will likewise take a bath. There are other forecasters who believe energy prices will begin taking off in the second half of 1998 on a secular bull run, so the battle between the bulls and the bears will eventually be resolved.
