Hey Raymond, Don might be more than half right, but check out this old forbes article. Your right the market is big, but so were the three program trades that kicked in friday afternoon to boost the dow up 50 points higher than the single digit close it was going to have. One final comment..to be human is to manipulate. Deny that manipulation occurs from time to time? Nope. THAT is the big stretch for me.

btw You don't believe in manipulation? Can anyone tell me that the american citizen is getting any hard news pertaining to life in Korea right now? All we get is Terry Keenan on the phone and stock footage from six months ago..that is complete crap. All we get is "Sir Tempelton sez he doesn't know where the bottom is, but he's going to sling a pile of money at it."

100% manipulation 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Look I hope KOREA pulls right out of the nose dive, and i'm sure the very nice folks that choose not to report the news believe they are doing a public service by not stirring up hysteria, nevertheless it is manipulation and it is an every day occurance.

Jan effect...

I am not trying to spread a conspiracy rumor, BUT....

The heavy's on Wall Street have a lot too gain with market sentiment.
As has been stated often in the press, the first 5 trading days of the Jan seem to predict the overall attitude or direction of the market.

SO....if the market doesn't start all strongly a possible negative mood by investors could add to this a downturn and cause some investors to change their investing plans and put their money elsewere. This could snow ball causing a very strong negative market....

So, if you get a few LARGE fund managers to invest a large amount of their money in a few key stocks that can project the appearence of a stronger market, stocks that have high visability like IBM, GE, MSFT, DELL,GM, etc which their movement can cause the major averages to also move up strongly... Mission complete.. The trap is set...

Remember this is all happening when a lot of negative prospects are seen on the horizon...like reduce or no earnings, the Asian crisis...overly strong dollar....

Finally when a few big funds begin to move in with billions it causes others to do the same... But this can all dry up just as fast...

Regards
Don
