No one knows the real bottom as no one seems to know the "real" top. News of "oversupply" and "pick up of demand" comes and goes. Stock will go up in face of bad news as well. The issue is whether buying WDC around current price represent a worthwhile speculation and on what grounds.

I wish I know the real earning picture ahead, which I do not, but I speculate not all funds will be dumping shares in a company they thought so well of not so long ago. Especially the funds holding major positioins of WDC have excellent managers. Fidelity seems to have a habit of dumping shares, but others (brandywine, legg mason) may hold on.

Best whishes for the New Year!

Jon-

First let me say that I really do respect your opinion greatly. If I had a tinge of "sour grapes" it is because it has been a long, arduous trip down and Friday was just a breat of fresh air for us longs.

I think the real news this week will be on Friday when our best freind SEG announces. I will be watching that stock VERY CLOSELY. If upward price action develops before the announcement this Friday then the MM's have spoken and this is a bottom. If I see any wakness in the middle of the weak in this sector...then APM is out of my Portfolio and hopefully above 11.

My point here is that FOLLOW-THROUGH buying better be there this week or APM et al will all head toward the low teens(and single digits for APM).

On the other hand, if we get a positive surprize or "in-line" results from SEG, this whole sector will bounce. APM and WDC report in two weeks (me thinks).

One step at a time...first us longs better see some SUSTAINED buying Monday and Tuesday...otherwise i'm out until the 3rd QTR at least.

Here's hoping for SEG!

Thanks again for the fun debates...hope your wrong (ggg).

HC

Re: The Good, the Bad, and the REALLY Ugly

You said:

And im glad to see APM friends getting a break. I just hope they don't get greedy and miss their chance to bail out before it REALLY gets ugly.

LOL, so what we've seen so far in APM is only SOMEWHAT ugly? <ggg>
