I hope not toooo interesting. TWT. He is NOT a Republican. He is in fact not an ideologue of any stripe. He happily lies with a straight face. He happily uses other people for his own ends. He has a YUGE ego. He loves to schmooze with, and is surrounded by people who don't at all fit the demographic that elected him. He is likely not actually an idiot. Since he is the Republican President, the Republican's in Congress are far more likely to work with him than if he was the same individual, but a Dem or Independent. This aspect by the way, is using many of the above list items. Taken all together, what does this likely mean? I think there were a few moments during the campaign where Trump told the truth, and it was well worth understanding, but most people, including myself just mocked him for it. I'm thinking of the time he first stated he really liked the "poorly educated". The poorly educated republicans were the ticket to the WH. Many of the poorly educated whites are racists bigots, including anti-semitic, yet Trump himself is surrounded by Jews. I don't think either Trump himself, or his Jewish brain trust are anti-semitic, yet they showed remarkable restraint in not very strongly condemning this behavior. That all fits if one is cynically using other people for your own goals, which is what Trump was doing. When one is in a competitive business, it pays to look for poorly served market niches. That is exactly what Trump did politically. He saw a very substantial sized market (size is really important here, and not hand size, LOL!) and he produced a product, with a straight face, for that market, and they liked it so well he ended up owning the market, and it was big enough to deliver the goal for him. But now he has rather more flexibility. He can stay loyal to the market who got him there, or he can examine the possibilities of expanding the franchise. The sky is the limit for one with Trumps ethics. Lying and playing people for fools are favorite tools, so he will use them as needed. It is interesting to consider that neither major party has much appeal outside its base, so that leaves the door to a potential large center open to anyone who can craft a narrative that would appeal to the center. Can Trump do this? I don't know, and again, TWT, but it should be clear he doesn't likely have any great constraints to prevent him from trying, if its a strategy that occurs to him. Its interesting to consider his health and age too. I suspect he might be happy with a single term, as a consequence, and that certainly also frees one up a bit. I suspect his ego will drive him to want to succeed, (Trump is a Winner) and success is not going to be measured by ideological purity to Republican ideals. Where this all leads I don't know. But I wouldn't take it for granted that he is going to be a nice hard right Republican like Ted Cruz or Ryan would have been in the WH.
