Stephen, The " CI's data for the holiday season to date is
drawn from its StoreBoard Monthly Channel Survey, which tracks
technology sales through PC Superstores, Consumer Electronics Stores and
Office Products Superstores, DELL is cleaning up because it does away with all this structure and sells direct so this data has some bias against DELL, but it is the other vendors who have to try to adjust to DELLs superior sales techniques. If sub 1000 machines is where the action is look for DELL to be there too. From CI site Re;DELL

"DELL. It has great management, great execution and a solid understanding
of the financial underpinnings of the business. But 1998 will probably
be a little harder than '97. Why? Simply put, Dell is the company in
everyone's cross hairs. Dell will do well, but will definitely know that
'98 was its "turn in the barrel."
