The Department of Education mostly administers loans. Someone has to do it.

Education is the #1 important public need of society after food, afety and sheltor. What in gods sake is more important than educating our kids? You pick on that one??

The United States Department of Education (ED or DoED), also referred to as the ED for (the) Education Department, is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government. Recreated by the Department of Education Organization Act (Public Law 96-88) and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979, it began operating on May 4, 1980. [3]

The Department of Education Organization Act divided the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare into the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services. The Department of Education is administered by the United States Secretary of Education. It is by far the smallest Cabinet-level department, with about 5,000 employees. It has an annual budget of US$73 Billion (2016). [4]

Speaking about shit" , you haven't answered my first question. I asked you why we needed a Federal Department of Education.

It's part of the big picture for the left. Indoctrination of our children can only be done by unelected bureaucrats at the federal level. Same thing with abortion, gun control, take your pick. Whenever the enemies of America need something done that the majority of Americans are against, the only way they can get it done is by Central Planning.

For koan to answer your question, would confirm the end justifies the means....
