I had dinner w/ my Japanese American college sister figure and her Indian American husband. They have been visiting Asia for the past few weeks together w/ their neighbor and friends, another couple of no-color. They are scientists, and live in North Carolina. This is the first time I had met my 'sister' since 1982. They have a son serving in the military. The man noted, and I quote word for word, "you know, now that we are going home soon, I feel as if I am returning to a different country" The wife, my friend, counseled, "let's see" Their friends ordered another bottle of wine. None saw Clinton as a viable alternative, and all saw Trump as the wrong choice. I took them to a Peking roast duck dinner, and got them laughing w/ stories and observations. Since none of us are getting out of here alive, we might as well enjoy. The duck restaurant here in Beijing is a 5-stories and large footprint building, serving guests on every floor. A lot of ducks die here every day.
