If you had invested a set of clothes in 1966 in Berkshire Hathaway's long-term investment strategy you would now have enough to purchase 2,461 sets of clothes.

More blue sky narrative moments.

If if was a skiff, we'd all take a ride.

WOW you certainly display a lack of knowledge when it comes to modern day investing since the advent of computers. Investing today entails three factions. One fundamentals the second Chart reading with indicators. The third is money management and portfolio asset allocation. All three when used together greatly weigh the odds of winning in ones favor.

Nothing or no system is fool proof. And every investor will suffer a loss or a loosing period if they are in the market for any length of time. Show me a person who says they never have losses and I'll point to a liar.

Investing is a business not a hobby or a game to be taken lightly. To be successful long term without an adviser, takes educating your self on market strategies and adopting one which suits your personal make up.

In short:
Fundamentals simply put is math, product need, niche, acceptance and moat. suggesting company quality and security.
Technical's, include chart reading, moving averages, Relative strength, and other indicators which suggest if it is over bought / or sold

Japanese Candle sticks long used in Japan, suggest recent past & present investor sentiment. Offering some idea on entry and exit timing. I am a former student of the link below and a member of Traders Library where I have accumulated and read or studied over 50 different investing books.
It has made a world of difference in my success rate.

Now that I'm retired, I spend at least 4 to 6 hours daily from market open. Either researching or trading I am like an investing junkie totally addicted.

Money management keeps a person from overloading on which increases risk As does portfolio asset allocation.

I have been self managing my investments since since 1972. I am no Warren Buffet but I have certainly beat the market. Not every body does.

In my opinion it is like sitting at a world wide poker table with some very skilled players, plus a lot of sheep who get fleeced.

Breakouts like Toboggo Jack referred to are great short term plays. done with Technicals, Many times very profitable.
Cheers
