Chart of mortgage debt outstanding since 1952. Am sure you have looked at this before butt how do we reconcile what has happened since it topped out first quarter 2008? Notice it grew around 10% annualized compounded from the beginning of Eisenhower. Highest was 15% annualized the four years Carter was president. Notice too how total mortgage debt grew close to total federal debt so totals were equivalent in nominal terms except since the divergence since 2008 with federal debt now double mortgage debt.. Perhaps this is Trumps's 'secret' weapon along with cheap rates to spur more growth and even finance Koan's nanny state on steroids?? Biggest shock was growth in the seven years of the GWB housing bubble was comparable to Ike, JFK/Johnson, Nixon, Clinton and Reagan two terms basically a near double in eight years MOL. Also seems mortgage debt continued to grow even during the worst of recessions like 1973 and 1980-81..

Imagine a future world 2024 after eight years Trump??? Figure out where both total mortgage debt and federal debt will be and how the yield curve looks and we can fill in most all the gaps...LOL

watching the video and listening to the tune made me momentarily trumpesque and was going to note something trumpish, but am refraining, except to note it brings back memories of first visit to makati district in manila accompanied by colleagues, circa 1984 when i became first-aware of an entire parallel universe

believe the first stop at the time was some place called boys town staffed by university types

the music hopped and the world was a fantastic place, and i wanted to live forever

okay, trumpish moment over

back to work
