Mark:

I am using version 6.1 of the Elliot Wave Analyser. It appears to me that the first leg up will be in the 28+ range before the first pullback occurs. This would coincide with Ed's time cycles and the January effect which may or may not occur. Ultimately, technical analysis is limited to using past information and projecting patterns, trends, and momentum to the future. The true delineating factor to a stocks performance is going to be the fundamentals behind the stock. If they remain consistent with past expectactions, the investor can expect the stock to perform in a manner consistant with past performance. Should either the fundamentsls to the stock or the markets change, then it would be consistent to extrapolate those changes to the share price of the stock.
As evidence in the most recent past, we are in a very unforgiving market. While Nextel does not have any earnings at the present time, there is the expectation that the dynamics of the company will continue to improve with predictable increase in active subscribers and the introduction of improved products which will culminate in a very profitable company. If this expectation is realized we can all expect to be handsomely rewarded.
