When I read the words "diversified X company," my sell-to-buy-side translator reads "company with no particularly humdinger product that has decided to create a growth story through acquisitions." Even if you ignore the fact that their growth is financialized, the EV/ Rev and EV/ EBITDA and pretty hefty. And the P/ TB ~ 600. Buyer beware.

Well, 3M (MMM) is trading at 20 times its highest Free Cash Flow of all time. However, the growth of the company is very low for several years.

It is true that the company has excellent ROE for a long time in addition to having good financial strength but the current valuation merits that there is more growth.

3M is undoubtedly an excellent company but it is not undervalued. The stock price has much more progress than the financial results, which is not a good sign if one is looking for an undervalued company.
