Trump is the signature achievement of Obama, specifically the result of how Obama governed. A classic example would be this year as the election loomed closer Obama used the Dept of Ed to try and force Federal control of the transgender bathroom issue on States. Trump is a reaction to what is seen by a huge swath of the population as liberal overreach

that's a huge load of horse manure... the majority of this country are pretty much in agreement on the liberal agenda, or left of center, whatever you want to call it... which is basically equal rights for all

Sure, there is a minority who get riled up with nonsensical issues such as "who can go to a bathroom", but they are a minority

Trump won due to propaganda, lies, low voter turnout, voter suppression, lies, propaganda, stupid people, ignorant people, people who vote republicon no matter their candidate, also stupid and ignorant people which includes Jill Stein supporters... did I mention lies and propaganda? repeated by the MSM ...and I didn't even mention the racist component, which garnered huge amounts of votes, "Make America Great Again!"

it's easy to monday morning quarterback about the situation... the bottom line is America elected a totally unqualified reality show buffoon, con man, racist, misogynist, pussygrabber, russian yes man, over an overqualified candidate because... "It's Hillary!"

The only thing I was guilty of was underestimating the rage in the heartland. I admit that I missed that completely. And in retrospect I can see that putting all those liberals up on the stage making sanctimonious speeches was probably the exact wrong thing to do because they/we were all yelling at those poor confused people in the heartland. They saw our demeaning of Trump as demeaning them.

We looked like the insensitive elitist people that we are to some degree. But if you reread Maureen Dowd's column, what she said in there is exactly what I posted here 100's of times. Time and again I tried to explain that Obama left us at the altar. But few wanted to hear that.

And Obama won by running to the left of Hillary , and Dowd is correct, the dem establishment wanted to force people back to the middle, but the country is actually pretty far left on the ISSUES like minimum wage, etc. The country is where Bernie is. He would have won. It is much farther left than even in 08.

I read Richard Wolff's book and Chuck Todd's book on Obama. I posted a hundred posts here that Richard Wolff said that Obama ran an outside game before he was elected and then he ran an inside game after he was elected. And he disband those geniuses that got him elected because he did not want them nipping at his heels when he moved back to the middle.

Obama ran to the left of Hillary on 08! That is an important fact.

And Chuck Todd pointed out in his book that Obama distanced himself from the Democratic Party. He did not want to be seen really as a Democrat. Did not move into the place dem presidents usually move to and

kept a separate organization. He wanted to be seen as a High Plains drifter pulling the two tribes together. Remember: "no red America and no Blue America"--bullshit!

And so he did not help the Democrats very much for his entire eight years. And the pubs skinned us during that time.

Had he kept those geniuses and turned them over to winning Democratic seats at the state level in 2010, we probably could have prevented much of this gerrymandering nightmare. But he never had any interest in doing any of that. Had he kept his campaign promises we would be fine now.

As mentioned, I posted at least 100's of times here and on-Sioux pals thread when I saw Obama turn into Ronald Reagan. In fact Obama took Ronald Reagan's book with him on vacation. The first guy to support me was actually Wharf Rat. He called him a Reagan Republican. But as mentioned, I got banned four times by Sioux Pal thread for pointing that out and once by Chinu. That is how much the dems wanted to hear that story of reality

Ironically it was Sioux Pal that posted that column by Maureen Dowd that said exactly, exactly, what I've tried for eight years to explain on these threads and that is the truth.!

I also read Tom Franks book Listen Liberal that said the same thing.

<<

Koan, the problem is not any one of a myriad of tactical "mistakes" on the part of Hillary's campaign, or even Bernie or the independents. Its much more central then that, and unfortunately lies at the core of liberal strategy, including what you yourself have lobbied for in a few thousand posts here on SI: Ramming through liberal policies, in a country which is nearly 50-50. You were ever so hopeful just a few days back that the Dems would get all three branches of Gov and be able to achieve exactly that.

>A classic example would be this year as the election loomed closer Obama used the Dept of Ed to try and force Federal control of the transgender bathroom issue on States. Trump is a reaction to what is seen by a huge swath of the population as liberal overreach on tangents when many feel that key economic conditions affecting them are being ignored.<

Exactly. A super-minority cares what bathroom a self-identified transgender uses, but EVERYONE cares about their personal economy. To quote Bill Clinton, 'It's the economy, stupid!'
