As Ford workers feared, production of the Focus and C-Max will be moved from Wayne Michigan to Mexico in 2017, in time for the 2018 model year. - cnbc.com

In the interim Ford has idled the Wayne Michigan plant early, three weeks ago, as Ford expects a large decline in auto sales in 2017 as uncertainty roils the US economy in what is being called the Trump effect.

Production of the F-150 truck has also been halted as unsold truck inventory continues to rise.

A year ago, with rising truck sales in the US, Ford moved the final assembly of F-650 and F-750 to trucks for sale in America to their Avon Lake, Ohio plant from Mexico. While this was expected to keep up to 1,000 of the jobs at the Avon Lake facility - the actual number of American workers needed proved to be fewer than expected.

More of the parts for Ford cars and trucks will come from Mexico. Ford has invested $2.5 billion in transmission plants in the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Guanajuato, creating about 3,800 jobs in Mexico.

Ford is considering building the Bronco SUV and Ranger midsize pickup at the idled Wayne Michigan plant in 2018, but no final decision has been made.

This Ford Plant relocation had nothing to do with Trump. It was agreed to in 2011 in UAW contract.
