Here's a fascinating article in the most recent issue of The New Republic on why Trump won. I know we've all read more of these can we can reasonably stomach but the argument in this one is quite original. The author is Kevin Baker, a new name to me. One of his argument is that Democrats better get this right because the next after Trump, may well be much better at the movement transformation element into a genuine nationalist one. Trump, he argues, is simply far too stained in far too many ways to successfully carry that.

Baker was a Bernie supporter, says so in the article, and looks for the next Bernie to come out of the Democratic party.
