Protests against Putin would be a closer analogy. There protesters get beaten up by right-wing thugs, while the police watch (or help).

You say if I believe my rhetoric? How long have I been posting here? Have you ever seen me say something I don't believe, or make anything up or tell a lie?

I'm very careful with my posts. I'm a responsible poster. And I try to be constructive.

We do not have very many cards to play. In a situation like this there really aren't a lot of options except large protest marches.

When I posted that, what I had in mind was a couple of protest demonstrations, MLK's March on Washington. Many people believe that spurred the 64 civil rights legislation.

I know the Vietnam War protests brought awareness to that issue and forced LBJ to not run for a second term and brought Bobby Kennedy into the race and had he not been killed, he would've been our next president and end of the Vietnam War.

Gandhi forced Britain to leave India with his protest marches.

Protest marches in Egypt forced Mubarak to step down. Protest marches have been useful throughout history.

Protest marches bring attention to an issue and can galvanize support for an issue.

Protest only works when your opponent is moral, and actually cares about some shared values. Protests against Stalin, Hitler and Mao are the kind of protests you should be analogizing- imo. I mean if you believe your rhetoric.
