yes, we've had 8 years to do that when interest rates were low... gee, wonder why the pubs in Congress didn't want to help America?

well they still don't. They don't want to deficit spend while interest rates are still low, they want to privatize and give a handout to their cronies

and as far as doing it in a recessionary environment, it looks like we are heading there, so actually another good reason for it

bottom line is republicons apparently have no intentions of doing any meaningful infrastructure spending

it's a trap, another con on taxpayers

Governments should deficit spend in recessions, and pay down debt in the good times. Doing it the other way around is idiotic.

Yes, I agree, but the real point to Trump's infrastructure program is to imitate Putin with his "public-private" partnerships, where what will essentially happen is that well connected companies will get contracts to build various things, get tax breaks that will effectively pay for most of it, and will get to charge tolls and/or some sort of rent over time to make a profit. And it appears that the latter will be in perpetuity--they will be the owners of these things, not the country.

It is no wonder that Trump loves Putin. I'm sure he would have loved Marcos too. The RW complains about the Clintons getting rich, they will prove to be pikers compared to Trump.

That is my prediction. I will put ***** 5 asterisks to try to make this post more easily retrievable in 5 years when we have some preliminary results. Of course, we don't know much about what Trump is really worth now and I doubt if he will become less secretive over time (despite his claiming that he would release his tax returns after the audit was completed; yeah, right).
