Could you just enlighten me on "MC", "WC" and "EV" ?

I suspect "EV" is Enterprise Value and "WC' is Working Capital" ?

If ADVFN does not contain those specific parameters, then one needs to determine what the "formula" would be for each of them. And that formula should contain certain parameters such as "Current Assets" or "Current Liabilities" etc..

For example, I like to determine the value of "Capital Employed". Now ADVFN doesn't have that specific parameter in its lists. But Capital Employed can be calculated via the formula :- Total Assets - Current Liabilities.

Now those two parameters are within ADVFN's lists. So I get ADVFN to screen for them and I download them into EXCEL and then get EXCEL to calculate the value of "Capital Employed" for each company in my screen by evaluating the above formula.

"Can you do relational expressions e.g. MC < WC or EV < MC?"

Yes ... let's say you wanted to find EV < WC

There doesn't appear to be a specific value for "EV" in ADVFN. However there is a number for EV/EBITDA.

So you get EV/EBITDA into a column of EXCEL (say 'A'). You get EBITDA straight out of ADVFN and put that into an EXCEL column (say 'B').
You now get EXCEL to multiply column 'A' by column 'B', which cancels out EBITDA, and you now have the value for EV.

You get WC (Working Capital) from ADVFN by downloading "Working Capital per share" and the number of
"shares" into separate EXCEL columns, and multiply those two columns together. That will eliminate "shares" and you will be left with WC.

All of the above parameters you first get screened and placed into ADVFN. You then Copy and Paste them into EXCEL and do the above.

You can now do an "If" function in a separate EXCEL column that will tell you which companies have their EV less than their WC.

It's a case of sometimes having to do a bit of straightforward maths in order to get the final numbers that you are looking for. But that's where EXCEL comes in handy ....

general comment. I have the same request as bruwin. I find many of your posts unclear because of your use of abbreviations - I often have to stop and ponder what they represent or just pass on by. You might consider that if both bruwin and I report some difficulty, others here might also have some difficulty-- assuming you do want us to understand what you are saying and are not just trying to save keystrokes or impress with your use of these.
