Good luck to Jeff: The need to belong is one of the primary motivations involved in the natural human condition and it has a tendency to corrupt the moral nature of individuals. I've long struggled with this; so much so that I have, in my senior years, opted to refuse membership in any of humanity's social groupings. I recently learned I am identified by a 97% alignment with libertarian stands on issues. Yet I will remain unaffiliated because I just don't trust the coercive nature of membership. Example: references to Trump. I am invited and will attend a Thanksgiving dinner with extreme leftists (family). These people are apt to bash Trump, promote false news narratives, and protest the election. On the one hand I know this is unfair lashing out. I like that Trump is calling the media out, and that he did the same with Hillary. Yet, Trump was immoral or at least ignoble in his attacks on other candidates during the election and behaved like a spoiled brat when anyone challenged him. So partly because of this, I will refrain from objections raised by his opposition at Thanksgiving Dinner and plan on conducting myself with the greatest level of polite deference I can muster. I will of course make comment on things that are over the edge (like the media) but that should be viewed as a nonpartisan complaint. Repost: siliconinvestor.com
